Blog Tour

I really love to write, and writing a blog has really kept my writing consistent because I'm always trying to write. Sure, it isn't stories or diary-type of entries all the time, but I like that I'm still writing nonetheless.

Ever since I started blogging, I've realized how much of a community there is within the blogging world and just how connected everyone is in it. Lauren of Lauren Elyse CAN tagged me in her Blog Tour last week, and I'm really liking her blog, especially the name. It's really motivating! And if you aren't familiar with the Blog Tour, it is basically what it says it is: a tour of different blogs, and if you want to get specific, you are touring different blogs and how the people behind those blogs work and how their writing process goes.

What am I working on?
I'm currently in the process of putting together a HUGE giveaway for my blog's first anniversary at the end of this month and collaborating with other bloggers and vloggers to grow my blog and Youtube channel. Now that I'm out of school, I'm able to invest so much more time into both.

How does my work differ from others in its genre?
I know that there are so many fashion/beauty/lifestyle bloggers out there, but I think my work is different because I'm a Filipino-American, first-generation American, native Californian going to a Christian university in Southern California. I think my background and worldview just differs from so many other people out there in my niche and I'm pretty sure that it shows in my writing. On top of that, I'm working to slowly expand my blog to include more articles and my thoughts on different issues happening surrounding Asian-Americans in mainstream America. I think that my unique and not so typical background (in the blogging world, to be specific) allows for me to stand out.

Why do I write what I do?
Well, for one, I love to talk. So whatever I write is an extension of my stream of thoughts. I'm simply sharing my thoughts on whatever topic I happen to be writing about that day. And I also write about things that are important to me. If I write about it, it is probably because I feel like there is a reason that I need to write about it and share it, whether it is a review of a makeup product or a recap of my week. There is meaning in what I write, no matter how shallow the subject matter may seem.

How does my writing process work?
At the end/very beginning of each month I sit down and plan my editorial calendar for that month. I also leave room in case I'm able to squeeze in a random video shoot with the boyfriend or an outfit shoot with a friend or if something else may come up. Then I sit down and write whatever comes to mind, really. When I write, I like to write as if I were talking to you face-to-face, or as if I were writing a novel. I plan out my posts, but definitely not as much as I could be, but my process is always improving and becoming more effective as my blog grows.

Who am I spotlighting? Their posts will be up next Monday!
  • Jennifer at Blush & Fuss - I first came across Jennifer's blog when I read a review she wrote about some makeup product that I really enjoyed and wanted to try myself. And I just like her blog and what she writes about! Her reviews are always detailed and the quality of her pictures are always clear as well, two things I love in a blog!
  • Harper at Harper Honey - Okay, so I used to really envy Harper's blog when I first saw her blog because I liked her spunk and how much bigger it was compared to mine, and she's actually one of my sponsors on my sidebar for this month (which means check her out)! Harper writes about college life, style finds she comes across, and social issues from time to time! She has a pretty diverse blog, and plus I love having another Asian blogger friend in this community.
  • Jordan at The Spontaneous Idealist - Jordan's blog makes me feel like she's someone I would probably get along with in real life. We share many of the same ideals and she just seems like a really chill, down to earth girl. (And she's also a sponsor on the blog for this month--a premium sponsor--so REALLY check her out!) Another fun fact about Jordan: While many bloggers are journalism or communication majors, this girl is a nursing student! Props to her for that because Lord knows I'd faint dealing with blood, needles, and sick people, but not necessarily in that order.
This post was only slightly different than the posts I normally do, but it was fun writing about my writing process behind my blog and all of that. I love when bloggers share their "secrets," so I thought I'd share mine (although they're definitely not secrets... anymore).
